As Christians, we all experience seasons of spiritual drought. During these seasons, our souls need to be replenished, and the support of a caring church community can uplift and fulfil us. Worldly challenges can cause heavy burdens which often draw our attention away from the Jesus life causing us to divert from God’s warm presence. In these instances, we need refreshment and to shift our focus to God to fill our spiritual cups. Communing with your local church to worship God, study His Word and enjoy fellowship in praise to Him revives us and refreshes the soul.
When we join together as a church community with open hearts, God will reveal His Word to us. Church leaders will share God’s wisdom to feed our souls and relieve us from worldly worries. It is important to understand that no single person has all the answers. Often, others reveal what we do not always see. They bring fresh ideas, advice and guidance that allow us to draw closer to God.
Offering Glory to God as a Church Community
When a church community studies the Word of God together, it encourages different viewpoints and interpretations allowing everyone to grow in the knowledge of God. It fosters the feeling of a communal family that together learns from the Bible to grow closer to God.
Worshipping together as a church and putting actions into motion through the Body of Christ is one of the most powerful things we can do. Praise and worship rekindle and revive our spiritual fire and encourage us to find rest in the presence of God.
It is an experience of the heart that brings us closer to the Word and magnifies God’s Name. Personal worship and time spent reading the Bible daily are critical for every Christian’s spiritual growth. However, worshipping in church encourages community in Christ and should be a part of your Christian practice as your relationship with God grows significantly during these shared moments.
Bringing a Community Together as One
When a church community praises together as one family, there is encouragement and enthusiasm. Ecclesiastes 4:9 – 12 tells us that two are better than one and when one falls, the other will help to lift them up. Three people forming a cord cannot be broken easily and coming together as a spiritual community offers encouragement and creates a space for comfort and edification to happen through the Body of Christ.
“For where two or three are gathered together in My Name, I am there in the midst of them” – Matthew 18:20
Praying together as a church community was part of daily life in early Christian practices. In today’s hustle and bustle, pausing to come together in prayer, praise and worship may seem to be one more thing to fit into a busy schedule. However, joining as a church in prayer is an important part of Christian practice and fundamental to our spiritual journey.
